Where dreams and art meet, it's important to talk face to face. We can meet at a time and place convenient for you. During your consulation, we will discuss and sketch the design of your cake. If you have a budget in mind for your cake, let us know so we can ensure we are discussing designs that will fit within that budget. When you come for your consultation, please bring as much of the following as you can: photos of cakes you love or hate; both are very important!(feel free to email me ahead of time) any color swatches you have, the type of flowers you will carry or decorate with, any decoration ideas you have committed to, photos of your gown/ bridesmaids gowns (for detail inspiration!) contact info for your reception site, date and time of your reception, approximately how many guests you are expecting, cake topper ideas or bring the actual topper if you have already purchased it. If you wish to book your date at the time of your consultation, a down-payment of 50% is required, to hold the date.
We love to stay busy creating wedding cakes. Occasionally we venture into other big life milestones like Anniversaries and Baby or Bridal Showers. We have begun to experiment with carved and 3D cakes. We will not accept orders for birthday, holiday, patriotic or sexually graphic designs.
Every cake created is unique and will be priced based on time and ingredients required. However, most cakes start at these base rates:
A down payment of 50% is expected at the time of reservation. A 3% addition fee will be charged for credit card/debit card payments and must be initiated by client through paypal. Please make checks payable to: Jessica Muller
The total amount due must be paid three weeks prior to your event date.
We encourage our clients to have our staff deliver wedding cakes to their reception. Delivery in the Anchorage area is usually included. Outside the Anchorage Bowl is charged at $10 per hour plus .55/per mile estimated to destination. If you are picking up a cake we strongly urge you to use a vehicle with a large flat surface and something with fold down seats allowing for air conditioning to reach the cake. Cakes do not like to be hot and will shed their iced coverings in order to cool themselves. Speed is not a factor. Cakes don’t care how fast you go as long as you don’t slam on the breaks at the light or cause G-forces going around a corner. Never hold a cake in your lap. You will wind up wearing it or will need therapy from the stress. Rural areas – avoid the gravel, washboard and pot hole filled roads or drive very slowly on them.
There are a few more details involved in presenting your wedding cake. These items are not included in the price of your cake but can be contracted with me for an additional fee. These things include but are not limited to: Cake topper, serving knife, plates and flatware, table, table cloth, decorations, candles ect. Also, remember to arrange (ask or hire) someone to serve your cake.
Cakes require support. These supports can be added to the cost of your cake if you wish to purchase them or you may pay an additional deposit and use ours. Cake supports must be returned by Wednesday the week following your event or you will loose your deposit. Damage or loss to supports will result in a charge that will be deducted from your deposit. We do not have the silver/gold cake stands to rent but, can help you in finding the right one to purchase.
If you chose to have flowers on your cake we can purchase the flowers for you either silk or fresh flowers. If you wish to use your florist we will be happy to provide you with the dimensions of your cake for you to make arrangements with your florist. We will not pick up your florists flowers but will arrange them on the cake IF they are at the reception site at the time of the cake delivery. We are not responsible for the final look of loose flowers but will try to follow your design as close as possible.
Reasonable changes to your order may be made up to 3 weeks prior to the event. Additional costs may be incurred depending on the nature of the changes. Minimums still apply. If we are able, we will accommodate any changes you request including, but not limited to flavors, shapes, and decorations. In such event, we will complete and sign a Change Order Addendum that describes such changes and any resulting additional charges. The order must still meet a minimum of $200
If you notify us of a cancellation at least 30 days prior to the event, we will refund half of your deposit. No refunds of the deposit will be given after that date, however we appreciate you giving as much notice as possible and if we are able to re-book your date, we will apply half of the amount of your unrefunded deposit to a future event.
We take our obligation to provide your wedding cake as agreed in this contract very seriously. However, should an unforeseeable event occur which prevents us from fulfilling our obligation and we must cancel our agreement with you, we will refund your payment in-full. In addition, if at all possible we will work with you to find another qualified bakery to assist you with your wedding cake and will cooperate in transferring materials to the new baker.
We reserve the right to take and use our own photos of your cake(s) to use for marketing and promotional purposes, including advertising and promotion through our marketing partners, without compensation to you.
While we make every effort to provide exactly the flavors, fillings, decorations, sizes, shapes and colors you have requested, the creation of a cake is an art and may be subject to slight variations by the creator. I promise you the best product and service I can provide.
